Best Way Forward 2010

Once again from June 7-11 we hosted the George Best Foundation for their annual event 'The Best Way Forward'. The launch of the event was held in the centre on June 3. It was hosted by Jim Neilly and the event was officially opened by Keith Gillespie. Barbara McNarry was present on behalf of the Foundation, with Raymond Kennedy also in attendance representing the IFA.
During the course of the week over 800 children from schools all across Northern Ireland took part in the event which was aimed at encouraging children to lead a healthy lifestyle through sports. Each day was broken down into different categories with football coaching, football matches, multi sports, GAA, health promotion and educational talks all part of the itinerary. The children were entertained throughout the week by sporting personalities such as Moto GP rider Jeremy McWilliams, Paul Leeman and Johnny Taylor from Glentoran, Michael Carvill from Linfield and Mark Garside and Colin Shields from the Belfast Giants. Our partners FASA were also on hand to provide tips on how to lead a healthy lifestyle.
We are pleased to say the event was a huge success and we hope to see you all again at Eddie Irvine Sports in the near future!
