Introducing Eddie Irvine Sports Karting School

Our Karting School is designed to provide instruction to competitive young drivers irrespective of karting experience. If you are between 8 and 14 years old and you feel you have what it takes then Eddie Irvine Sports needs to hear from you! Could you be the next Eddie Irvine?
Week 1
- Introduction to karts and their controls
- Introduction to safety whilst on track
- Comprehensive briefing followed by 15 minutes on the track
- Individual driver assessments , questions and answers
Week 2
- Flag signals
- Racing lines
- Braking points
- Corner Entry and Exit
- Acceleration points
Week 3
- Introduction to racing rules and race etiquette
- How to safely overtake another kart
- How to maintain your position on track
- 15 minutes track time followed by a debrief
Week 4
- Introduction to mechanical workings of a kart
- Brief introduction on how to set up a kart for racing
- An explanation of race formats including qualifying
- 15 minutes track time followed by a debrief
Week 5
- Driver briefing detailing team races
- Drivers will be put into teams of two
- 30 minutes track time per team introducing qualifying and driver changeovers
- Debrief
Week 6
- Full race briefing, reminding drivers of track rules, flag signals and Grand Prix format
- All drivers will compete in a mini Grand Prix
- Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd including a certificate of recognition
- All drivers will have the opportunity to discuss with staff how to progress in karting, including the possibility of being referred on to a third party to compete for their karting license!
All equipment will be provided on site, however all drivers are asked to wear appropriate footwear (No boots or sandals). Drivers are also welcome to bring their own equipment such as race suits, gloves and helmets (full face helmets only). A minimum height restriction of 130cm also applies.
